Tirupur: PM Modi who was addressing the party cadres in Tirupur today launched a scathing attack on the opposition.

As has been the theme of his pre-election speeches both in the Lok Sabha and elsewhere in the country, PM Modi was critical of the opposition more than he spent time detailing his schemes.

Around 20,000 cadres were part of the meeting during which the PM was highly critical of the opposition party. He mocked the DMK-Congress alliance as a ‘family pack’.

“Well, we have heard of the term family pack in ice creams and mobile recharge but the Congress-DMK alliance is a new type of family pack. Indeed, it was them who have introduced ‘family bails’ in recent times”, he slammed.

The PM mocked former Finance Minister, P. Chirambaram as 'recounting minister' and chided that he was so arrogant. When he asked "does the middle class worry about rising prices when they're consuming ice creams and mineral water?". When P Chidambaram has mocked the middle class in this way, the BJP has launched various welfare schemes for the middle class and he cited the IT rebate for people earning less than 5 lakhs a year in the interim budget.

He also proclaimed that only NDA can provide a corruption free government which was envisioned by late former CM Kamaraj.

He also accused that the Congress which is accusing the BJP in the rafale issue, left India's defense in the lurch before Mr. Vajpayee came to power.

Claiming to have introduced an array of schemes for the upliftment of the MSEs in the region, Modi asserted that his government has reformed GST tax slabs for the welfare of the MSEs. However, it is to be seen if the GST reversals are going to help the party or if it was too late since the mood of the MSMEs as late as January was very bleak.

Fake Promises

The PM alleged that “The UPA government is trying to lure people by fake promises especially to the farming community. Why to believe in false promises when the NDA government is already very keen in promoting agricultural sector?”

The BJP meeting stage was shared by Coir Chairman, CP Radhakrishnan, State President, Tamilisai Soundarajan, National General Secretary H. Raja and State Secretary Vanathi Srinivasan.

Earlier, the PM took part in the Bhoomi Pooja of the 100 bedded ESI hospital near Perumanallur in the presence of Tamil Nadu CM, Edapadi K Palanisamy and Ministers of State government.
