The Nilgiris: The police squad of the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) have conducted a raid at the Coonoor Government Lawely Hospital in Coonoor on Friday.
The DVAC was tipped off about bribes being demanded at the Government Lawely Hospital. Following this, a five-member police team including DVAC DSP Dakshinamurthy and Inspector Geethalakshmi conducted a raid.

They seized an accounted amount of Rs. 29,000 from the record keeper Nandakumar and conducted enquiry. It is learnt he had collected thousand rupees each from the staff for passing on to the auditor for filing IT returns. He had also handed over the list to the raiding team, who said that he could get back the amount after the enquiry.
Tension prevailed in the hospital during the raid.
