Tirupur: After almost 6 days since entering the Amaravathi Cooperative Sugar Mills campus at Krishnapuram in Udumalpet, Chinnathambi had finally moved out of the campus and has settled in a sugar cane farm in the same area.
Tirupur: After almost 6 days since entering the Amaravathi Cooperative Sugar Mills campus at Krishnapuram in Udumalpet, Chinnathambi had finally moved out of the campus and has settled in a sugar cane farm in the same area.
The farm belonging to a private farmer is situated almost three kms away from the sugar mills campus and is 30 kms away from the nearby reserve forest.
Chinnathambi seemed to have settled in the sugar mills campus as he refused to move away for five days. Despite being chased around by Kumki Mariyappan, he continued to run within the campus and did not move away.
The situation continued to remain tensed as workers of the Sugar mills started to protest against the elephant presence in their campus. The farmers of the village also staged a roko in the area demanding to remove Chinnathambi from there.
The Madras High Court on the other hand directed the officials to monitor the movement of the animal until Sunday and file a report on Monday.
Sources in the department have claimed that they would attempt to drive back the tusker with the help of Kumkis tomorrow morning.
