Tirupur: In a more than shocking incident, a 14-year old minor girl gave birth to a baby girl in Tirupur.
According to reports, the minor girl who worked at a coconut farm at Kangeyam in Tirupur was married to her relative last year. The couple resided at Uthukuli here. On Monday, the 14-year old gave birth to a baby girl at the Tirupur Government Hospital. On information, child welfare officials reached the hospital immediately and commenced investigation.
"The girl will be allowed to take care of her baby only if it is confirmed that she is fit both physically and psychologically. If not, the child will be sent to a children's home and the minor girl will be sent to a rehabilitation centre," said an official. He also noted that action will be initiated against those who arranged for the marriage.
