Coimbatore : Miscreants burgled gold from a person who was on a two-wheeler on Avinashi Road, in Coimbatore. The man was reportedly carrying 8 kg gold to the airport to hand it over for a flight headed for Chennai.
According to reports, Pradeev Singh (26) an immigrant worker from Rajasthan resides at Marakkadai here. Pradeev Singh who is involved in gold business was riding on his two-wheeler near Sardar Vallabhbhai College on Avinashi Road when he was waylaid by miscreants on another two-wheeler. The gang fled from the spot after burgling the gold from Pradeev.
On information, the Peelamedu Police rushed to the spot. The police became suspicious about the statement from Pradeev Singh regarding the gold he was carrying and began interrogating him. Initial investigations reveal that the gang which carried out the burglary were from the North of India. Five special teams led by the Assistant Commissioners Baskar, Somasekar, Somasundar, Balraj and Inspector Anbarasan have been formed to nab the culprits.
