Coimbatore: Into his sixth day at the Amaravathi Co-operative Sugar Mills campus, crowd puller Chinnathambi has finally gained some enmity among the residing staff of the mills as they have petitioned to the Chief Minister to chase the elephant from the campus.
In a letter to the Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palanisamy today, the members of the Amaravathi Co-operative Sugar Mills Anna Workers’ Association and Amaravathi Co-operative Sugar Mills Workers Development Association have claimed that turn out has been low in the mills due to the fear of elephant.
“The animal is repeatedly visiting that quarters area and as also broke the door of a house. People have moved out of quarters and our daily life is hindered by the presence of this elephant,” they had said.
Claiming that the forest department is playing sitting duck in the scene waiting for court order, the members have warned that they would protest if a strong action is not taken soon.
“The elephant is roaming close to school, hospital and houses and it is a dangerous scenario. We hope decisions are taken at the earliest,” they have said.
