While no material damage were reported from the area because of the gentle creature, sources claimed that the animal had broken into a quarters of the campus and had ate rice from the house, which is claimed to be one of the usual behaviours of the animal in Thadgam.
However, expert Ajay Desai who visited the spot yesterday claimed that the aggression of the animal had subdued from how it was in Thadagam, wherein, it had showed a little amount of aggression towards people. In his journey upto Krishnapuram however, Chinnathambi has not shown signs of attacking anybody and continues to move close to people.
A daily order released from the Madras High Court has commented that the decision to capture Chinnathambi and release him inside the reserve forest, which is a healthy 20 kms away from the area, would be taken tomorrow.
Department officials have clarified in the court that they were not intended to capture Chinnathambi and tame him as a Kumki, but to release him in a natural habitat.
However, since he is very far away from the nearby forest, it has become difficult for the officials to chase and they are in the mercy of using the Kumkis Kaleem and Mariyappan. Chinnathambi on the other hand, seems to have created an interim bond with Kumki Kaleem who continues to roam close to the wild tusker.
With Chinnathambi’s stay being extended at Krishnapuram, reports claim that the workers of the Co-operative Sugar Mills campus have started protesting against the presence of the animal as they are unable to go regular for work.
It is expected that an order could arrive tomorrow regarding the removal of Chinnathambi from Krishnapuram.
