Coimbatore : To boost the growth of Industries, CODISSIA has initiated a ‘CODISSIA Industrial Park‘ sprawling over 375 acres of two sites, Kallapalayam and Mopperipalayam in the city. The Park was inaugurated by the Chief Minister, Edapadi K Palanisamy here, today.
Coimbatore : To boost the growth of Industries, CODISSIA has initiated a ‘CODISSIA Industrial Park‘ sprawling over 375 acres of two sites, Kallapalayam and Mopperipalayam in the city. The Park was inaugurated by the Chief Minister, Edapadi K Palanisamy here, today.
The CODISSIA Industrial Park is expected to house 322 industries. The initiative is expected to provide employment opportunities to more than 10,000 people and generate over 20,000 indirect job opportunities.
According to a release from CODISSIA, the Park will nurture industries to produce components, even for the defence sector, and widely boost industries and develop rural areas. The Minister for Municipal Administration, S P Velumani, Deputy Speaker Pollachi V Jayaraman and other legislators from the area were present at the inauguration of the Park.
The Chief Minister lauded CODISSIA for its exemplary contribution in the boom of the industrial sector. "Around 3000 crore investment is expected through CIPL. The Defence incubation centre will transform Coimbatore as a defence hub in the future and bring more laurels to the city."
He also noted that people should not politicise industrial growth of a region. "I have personally instructed the Ministers to help in enhancing the MSMEs to start industry here," he added.
He apprised that the project report for the Metro rail project in Coimbatore would be ready by the end of the year and that the Pollachi-Palakkad road will be connected by 2020.
Speaking at the event, A. V. Varadarajan, CIPL Chairman said, "The industrial park will help boost industrial growth in the region. Importantly, residents of Coimbatore will get more job opportunities. Global companies are opting to invest in Tamil Nadu owing to the conducive industrial environment and the availability of a skilled labour force.
Initially, land acquisition was a major hindrance for CIPL. Hence, a special purpose vehicle was created to develop CIPL," he noted.
A. V. Varadarajan also proposed that incentives should be given based on employment created by the industry. This will lead to growth of MSMEs in the State," he added.
