Tirupur: Urging that the District office in Tirupur requires an upgradation with a larger carpet area, MP Sathyabama has penned a letter to the Union Minister for Labour and Employment (Independent Charge), Santosh Kumar Gangwar.

According to the letter, "The jurisdiction of District Office Tirupur includes Tirupur, Palladam, Kangeyam, Dharapuram, Avinashi, Uthukuli, covering more than 3500 companies. The number of EPF subscribers coming under the jurisdiction is more than 2.25 Lakhs with the inflow in the number of migrant labourers increasing every month.

District Office Tirupur has been a key driver in providing benefits through Pradhan Mantri Rojgar Protsahan Yojana (PMRPY) to the employers who are actively promoting new employment towards 'Skill India campaign' with more than 2 lakh beneficiaries under the scheme. The Office alone accounts for 25% of PMPRPY registered establishments across the country.

The Office is hand holding pensioners under its jurisdiction by registering more than 10000 pensioners to obtain Jeevan Pramaan Patra in the previous year. A facilitation center for enrollment and updation of Aadhaar in the premises of District Office serves employees with the footfall averaging 140-150 per day.

Also, the current office premise needs a new office accommodation with a higher carpet area to facilitate the growing needs of the employees coming under the EPFO net.

The employer and employee associations have urged upon the need for upgradation of District Office which was awarded by the Ministry as the best District Office for the year 2018.

This office upgradation will help serve lakhs of poor employees and will bring social harmony as a whole to the society".
