Coimbatore: Fulfilling former late CM Jayalalitha's promise to built a memorial for iconic farmer leader Narayanasamy Naidu, a memorial at a cost of Rs. 1.50 crore will be opened on February 6 at Vaiyampalayam in Annur taluk.
Coimbatore: Fulfilling former late CM Jayalalitha's promise to built a memorial for iconic farmer leader Narayanasamy Naidu, a memorial at a cost of Rs. 1.50 crore will be opened on February 6 at Vaiyampalayam in Annur taluk.
According to a communique from the District Collectorate, "To honour the memory of Narayanasamy Naidu, who is regarded to be the peasant leader of Tamil Nadu, a manimandapam (memorial) will be built at Vaiyampalayam in Coimbatore District which will be opened by TN CM Edapadi K Palanisamy on February 6 at Annur".
Minister for Municipal rural administration, SP Velumani, Deputy Speaker, Pollachi V Jayaraman and other MLAs will take part in the inauguration event.

Back in 2016, in a suo moto statement Jayalalithaa recalled her electoral promise of 2011 that a memorial would be built for farmer leader Narayanasamy Naidu and financial assistance to the families of farmers killed in police firing during protests.
