At the office of the Nilgiris District Collector, the weekly public grievance redressal day was held, presided over by DRO, P. Selvaraj. Close to 211 petitions from the public were received, pertaining to inter alia, family cards, house site pattas, business and educational loans, cash assistance for senior citizens, roads, drinking water, toilets and power supply.
The DRO instructed the concerned officials to consider these representations and take appropriate action. In addition, he urged speedy action by the various section officials on the pending representations received in the previous grievance redressal meetings.
At the meeting, the DRO also distributed cheques to beneficiaries from the District Collector’s discretionary funds as follows -- Rs 20,000 to Selvaraj of Kulicholai, Udhagamandalam for the educational expenses of his two children (Rs. 10, 000 each); Rs. 20,000 to the children of Seethalakshmi of Urada area of Melur; Rs. 15,000 to Saravanakumar towards medical expenses and Rs. 10,000 to Arumugam of Kulicholai, Udhagamandalam for starting a business – a total of Rs. 85,000 was handed over. He also handed over orders of assistance to six destitute physically challenged persons.
Murugan, special Deputy Collector (social welfare scheme), Bhaskaran, Additional PA to Collector (Land) and other officials took part in the meeting.
