Coimbatore: Police are on the lookout for miscreants who broke into a house at Podanur and burgled 65 sovereign gold, Rs.20,000 in cash and silver.
According to reports, Simon Christopher (48) of Bharathi Nagar near Podanur, Coimbatore works at a travels firm near Podanur. Simon Christopher was shocked to find the locker at his house broken last night when he returned home with his family, after visiting his daughter who was studying in Coonoor.
On being informed, the Podanur Police arrived at Simon's home and commenced investigation. It is understood that the burglars broke into the back gate of the house and entered through the first floor of the house.
Since they did not find anything there, they broke into the ground floor and burgled 65 sovereign gold, silver, Rs.20,000 in cash and all other valuables including passport, cameras and watches. The Podanur police have recovered the fingerprints and are on the lookout for the burglars with the help of the CCTV footage.
