Nilgiris : During the JACTO-GEO members' indefinite strike urging to fulfill their various demands, 86 government employees and teachers from Gudalur were arrested and lodged at the Coimbatore Central Prison. Apart from this, more than 350 employees participated in the protest.

Meanwhile, teachers were transferred when they returned to work after nine days. Out of the 86 people in Nilgiris who were transferred, a majority of them were primary school teachers. Condemning this, students are protesting in various parts of the district lamenting that their education will be affected.
Speaking on this, parents said, ‘Teachers are being transferred citing that they worked in the same school for many years. It will take time for children to develop a better understanding with the new teachers. This could affect the education of the students. So, transferring of teachers should be stopped," they added.
