Addressing the media, Minister Nirmala Seetharaman categorically denied the allegations put forth by Congress that the interim budget 2019 is a poll promise and not a budget. "There is no rule that the ruling party cannot announce an interim budget as their tenure draws to an end. Perhaps, the opposition parties are panic-stricken after the over-whelming response from the public on the interim budget".
"The opposition consider the 'rafale deal" as a trump card to defame BJP and gain votes. However, we have facts and figures to prove them wrong. Be it demonetization or GST, BJP will reach out to people to clarify the misconceptions and prove our point", she noted.
"Showing black flags to the Prime Minister is not right. Citing democracy, people in Tamil Nadu are trying to stage such protests. Unfortunately, they don't know against what they are showing their condemnation. Such acts will only affect the image of Tamil Nadu in the long run", she opined.
She also evoked that Tamil Nadu's bull taming sport 'Jallikattu' was earlier banned during Congress and DMK period and it was brought back to practice during BJP's regime.
When questioned on BJP's poll promise of depositing 15 lakhs in every citizens account, the Minister simply said "Show me evidence of this promise, I will answer then".
