The Nilgiris: The protests by JACTO-GEO members against the Government across Tamilnadu in the last few days is well known. They’ve been protesting demanding a lot of changes across the state. To draw the attention of the the government, they resorted to strikes, road rokos etc on a daily basis.
The Nilgiris: The protests by JACTO-GEO members against the Government across Tamilnadu in the last few days is well known. They’ve been protesting demanding a lot of changes across the state. To draw the attention of the the government, they resorted to strikes, road rokos etc on a daily basis.
Starting from 22nd of January, hundreds of JACTO-GEO members had protested in Gudalur. Out of this, 86 members were arrested During the 25th, 28th and 29th of January. They were produced before the magistrate court in Gudalur and remanded in the Coimbatore Central Jail. After this, the JACTO-GEO officials announced that they are putting away their protests for the time being and after nine days the Government teacher and employees returned to work.

Petitions were filed in the Gudalur Magistrate Courts by lawyers Manikandan, Karunanidhi, Chacko and others demanding the release of those arrested. After hearing the petitions, the court ordered the release of 86 government teachers and other employees on bail. Those arrested are expected to be released from the Central Prison in Coimbatore before Monday.
