Anjali (22), a pregnant woman from Thiruvarur was here in the city to visit her relatives at Nagarajapuram on Thursday. She stayed back at her relatives house and planned to leave the next day. At around 5 am of Friday, Anjali complained of labour pain.
She was rushed to PSG rural hospital operating in Vedapatti. Anjali who was suffering from severe labour pain was allegedly denied admission or assistance by the nurses at the hospital, citing that there were no doctors.
Left with no option, her relatives walked her out of the hospital. As the pain got intense, an old lady who runs a petty shop in Vedappati comforted her and assisted her deliver a baby boy on the street pavement.
The public informed 108 ambulance who rushed to the spot and administered first aid to both the baby and the mother. They were later shifted to Coimbatore GH.

The public were enraged at the private hospital nurses who denied admission and basic assistance to the pregnant woman who was in intense labour pain. They alleged that the inhumane act by the hospital staff led the woman deliver on roadside.
