Coimbatore: Police have arrested a migrant worker on charges of murdering a woman near Annur.
Sivagami (47) of Ganesapuram, Annur owns a chicken shop in the same area. On Thursday, when she was walking nearby her house she spotted a stranger hideously entering her house.
Sivagami walked towards the stranger and tried to chase him off. The stranger who pretended to leave the house, reportedly assaulted her using a coconut log leaving her sustain grievous injuries to her head.
Hearing her cry for help, her neighbours rushed to the spot and nabbed the culprit. They also rushed her to a private hospital. However, she died on her way.
Upon investigation, it was found that the person was Manojyakra (35) a migrant worker from Odisha. Police have registered murder case against him and commenced investigation.
The murder has caused panic among the residents of Annur.
