The monthly farmer's grievance meet was held today at the Collectorate in which only a handful of department heads took part. Unable to submit the petition to the concerned heads, the farmers were left in lurch.
"This is the not the first time the officials absent themselves from attending the meet. Perhaps, this is the scenario every month. The district administration fails to ensure 100% attendance of the officials. The farmers who come from various parts of the district had to leave disappointed, as they are unable to meet the concerned representatives of the departments and register their grievance", a farmer added.
Heads of 32 departments such as forest, seed certification, horticulture, co-operative society and others should attend the meeting to hear the grievance and interact with the farmers.
"Due to the frequent absenteeism of the officers, the petitions filed earlier are piled up and no action has been initiated", farmers lamented.
Hence, the farmers jointly urged that the District Collector should direct the representative of the concerned departments to be present during the grievances meet and make the meeting more purposeful.
