Coimbatore : Within a week after being captured and translocated from Thadagam in Coimbatore to Varagaliyaru in the Anamalai Tiger Reserve, Chinnathambi, the much-talked about elephant among Coimbatoreans has caused a stir again for venturing out of the jungle, early this morning and into mainland.
Coimbatore : Within a week after being captured and trans located from Thadagam in Coimbatore to Varagaliyaru in the Anamalai Tiger Reserve, Chinnathambi, the much-talked about elephant among Coimbatoreans has caused a stir again for venturing out of the jungle, early this morning and into mainland.
The radio-collared tusker that was released into the forest last Friday was found at Angalakurichi, a small village near Pollachi. Even as foresters tried hard to chase Chinnathambi back into the reserve, the elephant continued to roam around the mainland, jaunting through the streets.
Videos of Chinnathambi calmly walking very close to houses are going viral on social media, adding to the emotional uprising that the elephant has been a part of, since its capture.
While it is dangerous for the tusker to be roaming amidst human habitation after being termed a "problem elephant," activists and Chinnathambi followers are lauding the animal's sense of calm on social media. one post read, "He is calmly walking close to houses without harming anyone. It is high time he is trans located back to Thadagam."
