Coimbatore: District Collector, in-charge, Durai Ravichandran distributed bicycles to 870 students in an event held at the Thondamuthur Boys High School and Alandurai High School.
Addressing the gathering, Durai Ravichandran said, "Students play a major role in the development of the society. The State Government is carrying out development measures in the Education Department in an efficient manner by allocating large funds to provide 14 types of accessories to students including free bicycles and computers.
About 870 bicycles have been provided to students, with 630 bicycles for the Thondamuthur Government Boys High School and Girls High School and 240 bicycles for the Alandurai Government High School," he added. He further emphasized that students should make use of the government schemes to excel in their studies.
