Ganja sale among students and IT employees in Saravanampatti busted with the arrest of three men

The police have discovered that the sale of ganja and other substances are being targeted at a large student community from different parts of Tamil Nadu and other states, as well as IT employees who are residing at Saravanampatti in Coimbatore. Based on the orders from the City Police Commissioner, Sumit Sharan, and Deputy Commissioner of Police (Law & Order) L Balaji Saravanan, the Saravanampatti police had tightened vehicle checks. 

Meanwhile, based on a tip-off, the police team headed by Sub-inspector Bharathi Raja carried out vehicle checks at Chinnavedampatti Junction, two days ago. During the check, the police seized ganja from a car and a couple of two-wheelers, nabbing three men who have been identified as Mohit Kumar (22) of Ganapathi, Nathish Kumar (26) of Ukkadam and Naveen Kumar (22) of Maniyakaranpalayam.

"Nathish Kumar was a daily wager, while Mohit Kumar and Naveen Kumar were graduates who had tried out temporary jobs. Since, they were not satisfied with the money they earned, they stepped into the ganja business about two months ago," revealed the police. "The ganja was brought from Dindigul and sold in small pockets to college students and IT company employees residing at Saravanampatti," added the police.

All three men have been arrested by the police and produced before the Court, following which they were lodged at the Coimbatore Central Prison. the police seized 2.6 kg ganja, Rs.15,000 cash, a car and a couple of two-wheelers from the gang. 

In a similar incident, the police interrogated two men on Veera Keralam-Nagarajapuram Road, based on suspicion. During investigation, they were identified as Vimal (34) of Masakalipalayam and Gopala Krishnan (21) of Karamadai. The police recovered 150 gram ganja from them and arrested them.
