Coimbatore : The 48-day elephant rejuvenation camp conducted by the Tamil Nadu government every year which had begun on December 14 at Thekkampatti near Mettupalayam draws to a close today.
Coimbatore : The 48-day elephant rejuvenation camp conducted by the Tamil Nadu government every year which had begun on December 14 at Thekkampatti near Mettupalayam draws to a close today.
A total of 28 elephants from Tamil Nadu and Puducherry were brought to the rejuvenation camp. The elephants will be sent back to their respective temples in lorries after the closing ceremony which is about to begin in a few hours.
Since the elephants will have to travel many hours, they have been provided with nutrient food including fruits, since last night with doctors monitoring the health of the elephants consistently. The Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR & CE) Minister, Sevur S Ramachandran and other officials will be participating in the closing ceremony scheduled for this evening.
"Temple administrations have sent lorries to the camp. Elephants will be sent in the lorries this evening and are expected to reach their temple abodes in two days," said officials.
