The Nilgiris: As part of the malnutrition awareness programme, Nilgiris District Collector, J. Innocent Divya along with Isprava, a private real estate firm distributed 30 packets of high-protein health mix to the children at Puthurvayal, Gudalur on January 29.
The Nilgiris district administration has joined hands with Isprava to distribute nutritional supplements to children deemed to be malnourished in the Day. This initiative is a part of the National Nutrition Mission’s goal towards abolishing malnutrition among children in the district.
Earlier in October 2018, the District Collector distributed nutritious supplements to malnourished children at a function held in Ooty.
According to a press release from the private real estate firm, "High-protein foods were distributed to approximately 100 children and parents from the tribal communities of Ooty, Coonoor and Gudalur. A significantly large percentage of the tribal population in the Nilgiris suffers from malnourishment and limited access to clean drinking water, good health facilities, and daily meals. We aim to address the issue by providing dietary supplements on an ongoing basis".
