The Nilgiris: Farmers in Kotagiri and its surrounding areas have begun tilling their lands for vegetable cultivation.
Vegetable cultivation is carried out on a large scale in Nilgiris, next only to tea cultivation. Meanwhile, farmers have begun levelling their lands for the second stage of the agricultural process. The farmers have also begun spraying natural fertilizers across their farmlands which were brought in lorries. Farmers are also collecting and cleaning the vegetables which had been left out during the harvest.

Farmers mostly use organic fertilizers and have gotten rid of chemical fertilizers. One load of organic fertilizer now from the Thimbam region now costs Rs.22,000.
