Tirupur: Over a hundred parents staged a protest in front of the Devangapuram High School in Tirupur, condemning teacher absenteeism while pointing out that only two teachers were available to handle over 400 students.
"About 400 students from Classes 1 to 8 have been severely affected due to the absence of teachers. With final exams nearing, teacher absenteeism will impact the performance of the students," lamented the parents.

Similarly, parents agitated in front of the Chettipalayam Middle School which remained locked due to the indefinite strike called by the JACTO-GEO members. Only after a teacher arrived to open the school, parents were pacified and withdrew the protest.

Schools in Noyyal Veedhi and Vijayapuram also remained closed with children having to return to their homes.
