Coimbatore : Following State government's announcement for temporary teachers, over 2500 candidates have applied for temporary posting in Coimbatore. New applicants in large number have flocked the office if the Chief Educational Officer, here on Monday.
Urging the state government to address their nine charter demands including the old pension scheme, availing the 21-months pending pay and stopping the merger of 3,500 primary schools with high schools and higher secondary schools, thousands of teachers associated with Joint Action Committee of Tamil Nadu Teachers Organisation Government Employees Organisation (JACTO-GEO) have declared an indefinite strike from January 21.
While the temporary staffs are yet to receive their temporary appointment orders, they have vowed to take up the job seriously and work effectively.
