Coimbatore : On Sunday, sudden fire broke out at the Devarayapuram forest region in the Boluvampatti forest range near the Tamil Nadu-Kerala border in Coimbatore. After nearly five hours, the fire fighters with the help of forest department and tribal people doused the fire.

According to initial reports, the fire had its origin at Thangal within the Kerala forest range and spread into the forest areas of Tamil Nadu.
Based on the orders from the Boluvampatti forest ranger, members of the Forest Department rushed to the spot to inspect the situation.
Trees were burned down to ashes across many acres which made the job of dousing the fire further difficult for the fire fighters. While summer is yet to make it's footfall, this forest fire has set the alert bells ringing.
