The announcement was made by S.P.Velumani, TN minister for Municipal Administration and Rural Development at the inauguartion event of TEXTN global textile expo & IND TEXPO 2019 - Reverse buyer seller meet at CODISSIA on Sunday.
TEXTN global expo and IND TEXPO 2019 organised by Government of Tamil Nadu, TEXPROCIL and PDEXCIL was inaugurated by Smrithi Z Irani, Union minister for Textiles at CODISSIA .
TamilNadu Textile Minister O.S.Manian, TN Minister for Municipal administration and Rural development S.P.Velumani, District Collector T.N.Hariharan, several members of legislative assembly and Textile associations were present at the event.
Speaking at the event, Union Textile Minister Smriti Irani threw light on various welfare schemes introduced by the Central government and how TN has benefited majorly from the schemes.
"Buyers from 20 countries are visiting the buyer seller meet and this will hopefully bring in more business to the textile sector", she noted.

Minister Smriti Irani briefed about the schemes to boost the textile industry in general and powerloom sector in particular. She also talked about the measures taken by the Ministry to mitigate the issues arising due to increase in yarn price. The Union Minister stressed on the opportunities in medical cotton textile market.

"With the HSN codes awarded to 200 textile products, technical cotton market will get a huge boost. This technical cotton textile market will reach 3 billion in the next 3 years and the textile industries in Coimbatore should come forward to utilize this untapped market", stated Minister Smriti Irani.
This expo has 400 stalls featuring sellers from handloom, powerloom, knitted garments, readymade apparels and technical textiles sector.

Speaking at the event the Textile Minister said, "Tamil Nadu as a state has been contributing majorly to the textile sector and this expo not only showcases the speciality of TN textile sector but will also aid as a platform for improve exports and increase employment opportunities in the state".
O.S.Manian placed several demands to the Union Minister related to the powerloom sector in Coimbatore and Tirupur and the Textile industry in general. He sought Union Government's help in establishing hostel facilities for women textile workers and facilitating to maintain cotton prices offsetting the off season price hikes created in the market.

Regarding the CODISSIA defence hub, the Rural development Minister S.P.Velumani said "The Union Defence Minister, Nirmala Seethraman and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, Edapadi K.Palaniswami will lay the foundation stone for the much awaited CODISSIA defence park at Mopperiplayam on February 6".
"The initiative will provide employment to more than 25000 people directly and indirectly and will be a huge boost to the MSME sector", he added.
