According to reports, TNSTC bus TN 38 N 2458 was enroute to Anaikatti on Saturday night from Gandhipuram bus stand. When the bus reached Gandhipark, the drive slightly turned the bus off the road to avoid banging on a over speeding two-wheeler.
The youngsters in the two-wheeler who were in an inebriated state pulled the driver Devakumar off his seat and entered into a verbal argument with him. While the public and the bus passengers tried to pacify the youngsters, they began abusing and attacking those who came in support of the driver.
It is alleged that one of the youngster named Hari informed that he was a reporter of daily 'Dina Thanthi' and threatened them by taking pictures in his cell phone. Later, Driver Devakumar lodged a complaint at RS Puram police station. The police arrived to the spot and arrested Hari, while his friend eloped away from his spot.
Cases have been booked on him for hindering a government servant during work, creating public nuisance and impersonating as a reporter.
