Coimbatore : In an attempt to help the cyclone hit delta region of Tamil Nadu, which is suffering from the after effects of Gaja, various NGOs have come together to offer five lakh saplings from Coimbatore to the affected farmers.
Coimbatore : In an attempt to help the cyclone hit delta region of Tamil Nadu, which is suffering from the after effects of Gaja, various NGOs have come together to offer five lakh saplings from Coimbatore to the affected farmers.
Dubbed as “Oru vidhai puratchi” (one seed revolution), the scheme has been initiated by Nature Foundation with participation from like minded organisations and individuals.
Talking at the inauguration of the event at Brook Fields mall today, Vinod Raj, Founder of Nature Foundation said that they have planned to help the farmers of the region who have lost more than 50 lakh crops to the cyclone.
“We request the citizens of Coimbatore to help our farmers by offering either a sapling or Rs. 50 each,” he said.
Nature Foundation is an organisation that carries out greening activities in Coimbatore, Pollachi and Valparai.
Various NGO representatives including P.K. Selvaraj, Coordinator of Athikadavu Kousika River Development Association, Salim of Jeeva Shanthi Trust, and students participated in the event.
