Nilgiris : The District Collector of Nilgiris Innocent Divya hoisted the national flag at the 70th Republic Day celebrations held at the Government Arts College in Nilgiris, today.
Nilgiris : The District Collector of Nilgiris Innocent Divya hoisted the national flag at the 70th Republic Day celebrations held at the Government Arts College in Nilgiris, today.
The District Collector also inspected the parade of the policemen. She later distributed Rs. 29 lakhs worth welfare schemes to the beneficiaries. She also honoured policemen and members of fire service with shields for their service.
Following this, a traditional cultural event of the Todas, Kothas and Irular tribes was held, much to the delight of the public gathered at the event. The flag hoisting which usually begins at 8 am in all the districts had to be delayed owing to the climatic conditions prevailing in Nilgiris and was hoisted at 10 am.
