Coimbatore : A Manager of State Bank Of India (SBI) branch office at Kalapatti here was arrested by Police on the charges of withdrawing upto Rs.26 lakhs by opening new accounts in customer names illegally, without their concern.
Coimbatore : A Manager of State Bank Of India (SBI) branch office at Kalapatti here was arrested by Police on the charges of withdrawing upto Rs.26 lakhs by opening new accounts in customer names illegally, without their concern.
According to reports, State Bank of Hyderabad, a division of State Bank of India is functioning at the SBI branch office at Kalapatti here. Josaiah Panguloori, branch manager of the bank, withdrew Rs 17 lakhs illegally by opening new bank accounts in the name of customers without their consent.
Once the issue came to light, he was suspended temporarily. Based on the complaint filed by SBI branch manager Joseph Christy on November 24, 2018, a case was registered against Josaiah Panguloori.
Following this, the City Crime Branch Police launched a search to nab Josaiah Panguloori who had absconded. Meanwhile, Police arrested him on January 24 at Nellore, Andhra Pradesh and was brought to Coimbatore.
"During investigation, we came to know that he illegally with drew upto Rs 26 lakhs", Police said.
After investigation, Josaiah Panguloori was lodged at Central Prison here after being produced before the Court.
