Murugan (37) and Pandidurai (29) of Uppilipalayam were engaged in sewage cleaning work at Thiru Nagar in Singanallur. As the duo did not wear any safety gears, they were exposed to Methane gas and died on the spot out of suffocation.
The Municipal Administration Minsiter S.P. Velumani met the family of the victims at the District Collectorate today and handed over a compensation of Rs. 10 lakhs each from City Municipal Corporation fund.
District Collector T.N.Hariharan, Corporation Commissioner Dr.K. VijayaKarthikeyan, MLAs Arukutty, PRG Arunkumar and others were present.
