Coimbatore : Two brick kiln workers on a two-wheeler died on the spot after they were run over by a lorry on Thadagam road near Somayampalayam on Thursday.
Coimbatore : Two brick kiln workers on a two-wheeler died on the spot after they were run over by a lorry on Thadagam road near Somayampalayam on Thursday.
Madhavan from Thanjavur and Sathishkumar from Sivagangai were working in brick kiln in Thadagam area, here. Today morning, the duo were enroute to Kanuvai to withdraw cash from an ATM to pay their loan due.
When they were nearing a nursery in Somayampalayam on Thadagam road, they reportedly tried to overtake a lorry. Their two-wheeler and the lorry rammed against each other and the duo were thrown out of the vehicle.
The lorry then ran over them and crushed them to death on the road instantly.
Thadagam Police and ambulance rushed to the spot and retrieved the corpse to the Coimbatore government hospital mortuary for post mortem examination.
The police are on a look out for the lorry driver who escaped the spot. The public have demanded to widen the road on this stretch, as accidents have become very common in the recent times.
