The Nilgiris : In an attempt to acheive 100% voting in the District of Nilgiris and to encourage newly-added voters to cast their votes during the upcoming Parliamentary elections, the District Revenue Department organised an awareness rally in Coonoor on Thursday.
Senior officials from revenue department roped in school, college students and the youth in the rally which was aimed to sensitize the public on their responsibility to vote.

While the intent of the rally was much-appreciated, the public and social activists in Coonoor opined that instead of roping in only minors who are ineligible to vote, the revenue department should have used the public, auto drivers, taxi drivers and estate workers so that it could have created more sense.
The rally passed through important junctions including Bedford, Lawley hospital and reached Coonoor fire station.
