The Nilgiris : Around 1500 employees of Cordite Factory Aruvankadu (CFA) in Coonoor entered into their second day of strike demanding implementation of old pension scheme and other demands.

Established in 1904, Cordite Factory Aruvankadu (CFA) is one among the 11 ammunition factories in the country associated with Indian defense.

Close to 1800 employees work at the factory, out of which 1500 permanent employees have participated in the ongoing strike.

It is feared that production could take a hit as majority of the workers are on a strike.

Back in July 2018, the workers of CFA conducted a hunger strike condemning the central government for not extending the production target of the factory.
