Coimbatore: Traffic halted in front of the District Collectorate today owing to the ongoing protest of the JACTO-GEO members. During the third day of their protest today, int he city, more than 2000 members gathered in front of the District Collectorate causing disruption of vehicular movement. Policemen had to be deployed at the spot to avert any inconvenience.

During the third day of their protest today, in the city, more than 2000 members gathered in front of the District Collectorate causing disruption of vehicular movement. Policemen had to be deployed at the spot to avert any inconvenience.

The JACTO-GEO members are on an indefinite strike across the State from January 22, demanding fulfillment of their various demands including scrapping of the complementary pension scheme and payment of the 21-month arrears pay under the Seventh Pay Commission, while also urging to fill the vacancies. Many members who participated in the protest in the past two days have been arrested.
