Coimbatore: The special team formed to investigate the Kalyan Jewellers highway robbery case has reportedly arrested 7 members and investigating them at an undisclosed location. Police said that more persons are involved in the crime.

Rs.92 lakh worth gold, silver jewellery which was being transported to Coimbatore from Kerala by Kalyan Jewellers were stolen in broad daylight near Chavadi here on 7th January. Wilfred (31) and Arjun (22), two of Kalyan Jewellers staff who were there in the car were attacked and the accused escaped with 350 sovereigns of gold jewellery and 243.32 grams of silver jewellery.
Seven special teams were formed to nab the criminals and recently, two of the accused, Tamilselvan from Vellore and Jayaprakash surrendered at Chennai High Court. Special team officers said that 7 persons have been arrested and they are being investigated at an undisclosed location. Police said that 12 more persons are involved in the crime and the stolen jewellery could be found out only if all accused are arrested.
