The Nilgiris: A bison has been reported dead after it slipped into a river near Coonoor, during the wee hours of today.
According to reports, the bison was grazing through a narrow pathway in the TANTEA estate area in Coonoor. Unexpectedly, it slipped off the ground and fell into a river that was running down the valley.
Subsequently, the nearby residents informed Coonoor forest department officials who rushed to the spot and confirmed the death of the bison. Following which, the corpse was buried after postmortem.
