The Nilgiris: Four school students were critically injured as a speeding car rammed on them on Thursday evening near Coonoor.
The students are from Defence Employees Matriculation School (DEMS) and are reported to have been waiting to cross the lane, while the accident took place.
Initial reports suggests that the speeding car rammed on students - Arthi (11), Keerthika (12), Ashwatha (12) and Koushik (8) this evening at Aravankaadu near Coonoor.
Among the injured, Kowshik sustained severe injuries on his hip area and was rushed to Coimbatore for critical treatment. While, other students were rushed to Coonoor government hospital for treatment.
The car driver, Nandakumar from Erode was arrested by the Police. The public who were on the spot tried to manhandle the driver for his callous driving. However, the police pacified them after which they dispersed.
