Coimbatore: A bird watching and census event ‘Aves Trek 2019’ was held as part of 11th edition of Kovai Vizha. About 75 students took part in the event.
Coimbatore: A bird watching and census event ‘Aves Trek 2019’ was held as part of 11th edition of Kovai Vizha. About 75 students took part in the event.
A release said that the students led by Mr. Prasath, AVC College, Myiladuduhrai trekked the foothills of Maruthamalai in and around Bharathiar University. The team started the trek around 6.45 a.m.
and spotted over 55 varieties of birds including red vented bull-bull, Asian paradise flycatcher, bee-eater, purple sun-bird, Rufous tree pie, Asian palm swift and many others. Prasath also gave a lecture on the topic ‘Introduction about Birding.’
The event was coordinated by Gunasekaran, Faculty Advisor of Nature Club of Bharathiyar University.
