SOCIAL CAPITAL is a mobile application developed through an initiative to bring the Coimbatore Corporation, Social Welfare organisations, Corporate Companies, Social Activists and Students on a common platform for a better Coimbatore. Through this network, a common set of resources could be deployed to any project or to help individuals to achieve their goals. Now the project has taken off in style by helping a young athlete to achieve her dreams in the world stage.
Tamilkani, a mechanical engineering student from GCT, Coimbatore is a passionate and talented fencer with international dreams. She is a National Level Gold Medalist in Fencing and was in need of Rs. 85000 to participate in the Open Fencing Championship to be held in Bangkok.
At this stage, Tamilkani with the help of Mr. Saravannan Chandrasekar of Wild Wing Trust contacted SOCIAL CAPITAL. Due to the efforts of subscribers of SOCIAL CAPITAL application a sum of Rs. 86500 was collected through the application and was handed over to Tamilkani by Coimbatore corporation commissioner Mr. Vijaya Karthikeyan. He has also donated a part of his salary to fulfill the dream of Tamilkani who qualified for the International Fencing competition to be held in Bangkok. A demand draft for Rs. 86,500 rupees was today handed over to Tamilkani by Mr. Vijaya Karthikeyan on behalf of Social Capital.
