Vellore : In a shockingly fanatical incident, Prasanth, a 20-year old who is reported to be a die hard film buff set his father ablaze when the latter refused to give money to his son to watch Ajith's new film release 'Viswasam.'
According to police, Prasanth alias Ajith Kumar, a construction worker of Katpadi near Vellore demanded money from his father Pandian, a daily wager to watch Viswasam which was Ajith's new film release for Pongal. When the latter refused to part with any money, Ajith Kumar allegedly poured kerosene on him and set him on fire. Pandian, who sustained 40 percent burns on his face and other parts of his body was rescued and admitted to the Vellore Government Hospital. Prasanth was said to be in an inebriated condition when he committed the heinous crime. He has been arrested by the police.
In another such incident, Pratap, an Ajith fan reportedly stabbed two other film goers in front of the Alankar theatre in Vellore, where the film is screened. The two have been admitted to hospital with stab injuries.
