Argument breaks out at ration shop over indiscriminate distribution of promised Pongal gifts

Coimbatore : At the Karanampettai ration shop in the city, people who had queued up since early morning for their promised Pongal gifts became irate, arguing with those in charge of the Pongal gift distribution at the shop.


Coimbatore : At the Karanampettai ration shop in the city, people who had queued up since early morning for their promised Pongal gifts became irate, arguing with those in charge of the Pongal gift distribution at the shop. 

They alleged that there was indiscriminate issuing of gifts to only 100 beneficiaries on the first day and to only two beneficiaries on the second day. "Did we ask for Pongal gifts? We have not had food or water for the past three days but are waiting in front of the ration shop since 6 am today because the Pongals gifts were promised by the State Government," they fumed.



The women staged a road roko here with their cows. This affected traffic movement in the area for over two hours.
