Elderly women faint waiting for Rs 1000 Pongal cash gift

Coimbatore: Two elderly women fainted in front of a ration shop in Singanallur today waiting for the Rs 1000 cash gift offered by the Tamil Nadu government.

Coimbatore: Two elderly women fainted in front of a ration shop in Singanallur today waiting for the Rs 1000 cash gift offered by the Tamil Nadu government. 



Long queues of public waiting to receive Rs 1000 cash gift and other Pongal gifts by the State government are seen in front of PDS shops here. The government has offered cash gift of Rs 10000 and gift hampers with raw rice, sugar, raisins, cashew nut, cardamom and sugar cane to all ration card holders in the state. Several AIADMK cadres have gathered at various ration shops here and party flags and banners have been erected nearby these shops. 



Two elderly women, Vanaja and Thangamani fainted in front of Singanallur ration shop today after waiting for a long time in the queue for the Pongal gifts. Later, Public nearby gave them water and got them their gifts.
