Even as the two-day strike observed by various trade unions on various issues including the ‘anti-labour’ and divestment policies of the current Union Government reached its final day today, more than 500 members of various trade unions including INTUC, CITU, Indian National Trade Union Congress and Labour Progressive Federation staged a road roko in the city, today.

Later, they attempted to enter the railway station to stage a protest but were detained by the police. During the protest, slogans against the Central government were raised.

As part of the two-day nationwide strike of various trade unions against the Central Government, members of the CPM (I), AITUC and noon meal workers staged a protest in front of the Kotagiri bus stand. All 70 members involved in the protest have been arrested by the police.
