Coimbatore: Second death in a row, a tribal woman who was collecting fuelwood inside the forest was trampled by a wild elephant near Mullankadu village in Boluvampati Forest Range, today.
It is reported that the victim, Janaki (a) Sadiyammal (50) could have encountered the elephant in close quarters and was killed while she tried to escape.
On hearing her wail, the local people rushed to the spot and retrieved her.
However, she was declared dead. Her mortal remains were taken to Coimbatore Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
In the same village, a man was killed by a wild elephant on January 1. The consecutive deaths has brought much grief among the villagers.
