Madras High court has banned the illegal release of Rajnikanth -starrer “Petta” which is to hit the screens on January 10 in online platforms such as Tamilrockers which continue to carry on with their piracy activity.

The court which heard the petition filed by Sun Network, the producers of the film praying for a ban for the piracy and illegal exhibition of the new release in online platforms and cable TV channels, said that all such illegal uploading on online platforms such as Tamil rockers is being banned.
The producers of Ajith –Starrer “Viswasam” has also approached the court seeking for the same immunity against the illegal telecast of their film, to which the court ordered the same.
It may be noted that online platforms such as Tamilrockers have defied such bans and continued to flout norms in the past and carried on with their video piracy activities
