According to police, in January last year, Sugel Indrapal and Amit Kumar, two workers from Uttar Pradesh selling blankets here have asked accused Karthik Raja for directions to hotels nearby Kuniamuthur. Karthik Raja has asked Sugel Indrapal for money to guide them to the nearest hotel. Indrapal refused to pay him money and walked away mocking Karthik Raja for asking money. Feeling insulted, Karthik Raja attacked Indrapal and he succumbed to injuries. Kuniamuthur police registered a case and arrested Karthik.
Hearing the case today, Additional District Judge Gunasekaran sentenced Karthik Raja to life imprisonment and Rs 1000 fine
