Coimbatore: Rs.92 lakh worth gold, silver jewellery which was being transported to Coimbatore from Kerala by Kalyan Jewellers were stolen in broad daylight near Chavadi here. Police are investigating.

Renowned jewellery brand Kalyan Jewellers have been transporting jewellery from their Thrissur branch to Coimbatore branch by road. Today, two of the firm's employees, Arjun (22) and Wilfred (33) were enroute to Coimbatore by car to deliver 350 sovereigns of gold jewellery and 243.32 grams of silver jewellery at the Jeweller’s branch here. According to sources, a Scorpio car dashed the vehicle from behind near Aryaas Hotel in Chavadi. Over 10 members from the Scorpio car and an Alto car behind it attacked Kalyan Jeweller’s vehicle and broke its mirrors.
The gang attacked Arjun and Wilfred and they escaped with the jewellery. KG Chavadi police have registered a case and they are investigating. Police have CCTV camera visuals from the area. Investigating officers have alerted all check posts and police in nearby districts like Tirupur, Erode, Nilgiris and Salem.
